About me
Hey! I am Sudarshan and I am an alumni of San Jose State Univeristy. I have been a volunteer with Isha Foundation, a non-profit spiritual organization founded by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. Isha Vidhya, part of Isha Foundation, is mainly committed to raising the level of education and literacy in rural India and help disadvantaged children realize their full potential initiative for rural education
Isha Vidhya provides high quality education at very low costs, for rural families who can't even afford minimal fees. With parents engaged in entry level positions and working as laborers, carpenters, field workers, construction workers, and street vendors, income is inconsistent and varies based on the season and demand for employment. Even minimal school fees strains already limited budgets, forcing families to cut expenditures in other areas such as food, medicine and clothing.
I am participating in Sevathon'16 and running the 10K to support the education of more rural children. This is my 2nd year at Sevathon and it gives me immense pleasure to support the empowerment of these rural children again.
You can support Isha Vidhya in various ways. Full educational support scheme needs Rs. 20,000 / $480 / £300 per year for a child. Full support includes uniform, transport and a noon meal besides tuition, note-books, books and nutritional health supplement. A donation of Rs. 10, 000/ $240 / £150 provides tuition, books, notebooks and nutritional health supplements for one child for a year. In addition, the donation helps cover expenses for teacher training, classroom learning materials, computer facilities and school administrative costs. Donors are matched with a student and will receive periodic progress reports, photos and letters from the student. The Isha Vidhya Scholarship Panel assesses all sponsorship applications and conducts home visits to ensure that the most financially deserving students receive assistance.
You can show your support by either registering to walk/run/do surya namaskar on June 26th @ Arena Green East, San Jose, CA or you can donate here :)
