CHAC exists to provide alternatives to self-destructive behavior and to help create healthy lives for the children and families in the communities they serve.  CHAC’s core values include focus on empathy for those who seek our aid, developing healthy families, promoting healthy lifestyles, responding to community diversity and collaborating with other organizations to meet the complex needs of our communities.

At its Mercy Street Family Resource Center & regional satellite sites, CHAC seeks to remind all caregivers that they are a child’s first and most important teachers.  Our programs raise awareness of the helpful learning tools to make the most out of a child’s early years through various programs that promote understanding child development, early literacy/language development, school readiness, increased health and nutrition, and social-emotional health.  We do so through classes, individual parent consultations, developmental screenings, referrals to much needed community resources, and a volunteer program that fosters community building.
